TMEVNET, a startup developing ultra-fast EV charging solutions, was recently selected for the "Deep-Tech TIPS" program led by South Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
As part of the TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startups) initiative, Deep-Tech TIPS supports startups within 10 years of establishment that receive over KRW 300 million in investment from a TIPS operator. Selected companies can receive up to KRW 1.5 billion in R&D funding along with support for commercialization and global marketing. The program aims to support promising startups in 10 key emerging industries.
TMEVNET’s flagship product, an ultra-fast charging cable cooling system, is the industry's first to apply liquid evaporation phase change cooling technology. This innovation addresses the conventional issues of cable weight and overheating, enabling megawatt-level charging. The company states that this breakthrough can accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle and future mobility markets.
“Taming the heat generated by high-power output is a major technical barrier in megawatt charging,” said Hyungnam Cho, CEO of TMEVNET. “Through the Deep-Tech TIPS program, we aim to overcome existing limitations and enable megawatt charging even within current fast-charging standards.”
TMEVNET secured the selection with major investment from KingoSpring. The company also plans to accelerate its global market entry and R&D through a joint development initiative with the Korea Automotive Technology Institute. Notably, TMEVNET has been selected for the Startup Autobahn program by Mercedes-Benz, and aims to validate its megawatt charging performance through PoC (Proof of Concept) collaborations with both Mercedes-Benz and Siemens in Germany.
